The Household Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste Collection will be at Mount Desert Island High School on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

HHW and UW from the outer islands will be discharging their waste first – from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.  Then household HHW and UW will be accepted between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  More information…

 

Universal Waste can be brought to the EMR Transfer Station in Southwest Harbor on the 2^nd Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  You may also bring Universal Waste to the annual HHW/UW Collection Day at the Tremont Town Office, 20 Harbor Drive, Bass Harbor, ME.

Bar Harbor residents can bring their Universal Waste items to Bar Harbor’s transfer station during any hours the station is open. Bar Harbor residents should not bring Universal Waste to the island HHW/UW Collection Day, since they have that service in their community, but are welcome to bring Household Hazardous Waste to the Waste Collection Day.
